Effective Aug. 28 home builders are required by Missouri state law to provide homebuyers an option to choose installation of a residential fire sprinkler before signing a contract for the purchase of a new home.

 
Missouri Tax Credit Loan Program PDF Print E-mail

While the $8,000 first-time buyer federal tax credit is a major boost for the housing market, one drawback is that buyers cannot use the credit at closing for the downpayment and other costs. The Missouri Housing Development Commission has created a progam to allow buyers to do just that, offering an interest-free loan that buyers can repay once they received their tax refund from the federal government.

 
FHA Allows First-Time Buyers to Use Tax Credit at Closing PDF Print E-mail

During an address to the NAHB Board of Directors, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan announced a plan that will allow first-time buyers qualifying for the $8,000 tax credit and obtaining an FHA loan to use the funds at closing for a down payment and other costs.

 
Kansas City, Mo. Council Backs $2.4 Billion Sewer Plan PDF Print E-mail

Kansas City, Mo., is embarking upon an unprecedented 25-year infrastructure plan to overhaul the City's combined sewer system, costing $2.4 billion in today's dollars. City Council members overwhelming endorsed the Sewer Overflow Control Plan in December in response to the Environmental Protection Agency's mandate the City improve its sewer and storm water systems.
