A key benefit of being apart of the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City is the opportunity to take part in seminars and classes created specifically for members. Learning opportunities at the HBA cover a wide range of industry and local issues to help members expand their professional knowledge, better understand the building environment around them and gain a competitive advantage.
The HBA offers a variety of local learning opportunities through special seminars for the association's various councils and special interest groups. Additionally, many HBA courses quality for continuing education hours with contractor licensing jurisdictions in Johnson County, Kan., and Kansas City, Mo.
PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS The HBA currently offers courses toward many professional designations through the National Association of Home Builders for many specialties within the residential construction industry. Professional designations help consumers identify those individuals who value commitment and understand the importance of education in their field. With curriculum that covers a vast array of topics customized to their particular industry, consumers can feel confident that designees have gone the extra mile in professional development. NAHB has certified thousands of industry professionals across the nation, including nearly 400 here in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
LOCAL CONTRACTOR LICENSING PROGRAMS Johnson County Contractor Licensing requires that home-building professionals in the county take EIGHT hours of continuing education each year to maintain their license. They hold continuing education classes in metro locations and regularly at their office 111 Cherry St., Ste. 1051 in Olathe. Kansas City, Mo., Contractor Licensing requires that home-building professionals in the city take 32 hours of continuing education every four years to maintain their license.
