FHA Allows First-Time Buyers to Use Tax Credit at Closing

During an address to the NAHB Board of Directors, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan announced a plan that will allow first-time buyers qualifying for the $8,000 tax credit and obtaining an FHA loan to use the funds at closing for a down payment and other costs.

Housing Market Shows Signs of Hitting Bottom

It's not exactly smooth sailing ahead but home builders looking for the bottom of the housing market can find some optimism a forecast delivered this week by Moody's Economy.com. Kansas City should weather the storm better than the rest of the country and stabilizing home prices and a buildup in housing starts may not be too far away.

The good news for the Kansas City housing market is that momentum appears moving in the right direction. The question is just how strong that momentum will be.While the 2009 Kansas City Housing Forecast presented by Landmarketing paints a picture of falling new-home inventories and projects a slight rise in new-home starts this year, uncertainties in the financial and labor circles as well as a changing buyer profile means it will not be business as usual.
